QA - SRP -------- SRP = Stanard Reference Photometer On February 8, 1979 (Federal Register, 44:8221-8233), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency amended Appendix D of Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 50, to prescribe a calibration procedure for the calibration of reference methods for measuring ozone in the atmosphere. The procedure is based on the use of ultraviolet (UV) photometry as the authoritative standard for ozone and allows the use of transfer standards for the calibration of ambient ozone monitors, provided such transfer standards are adequately referenced to a UV ozone standard of higher authority (level) and traceability. The document discusses how various levels of transfer standards are verified and traceable to an authoritative NIST standard. The transaction can be used to report: 1. NIST Level 1 SRP verifications to the EPA RTP Level 1 SRPs 2. EPA RTP Level 1 SRPs to EPA Regional Level 1 SRPs 3. EPA Regional Level 1SRPs to monitoring organization Level 2 transfer standards 4. monitoring organization Level 2 transfer standards to monitoring organization Level 3 transfer standards 5. monitoring organization Level 3 transfer standards to monitoring organization Level 4 transfer standards 6. 6 by 6 verifications 7. Re-verification (new point to 6 by 6) In the case of each transaction the authoritative standard is the standard "closer" in traceability to the NIST standard.
